British Marine Strategy
British Marine plc was founded by professionals with a long track record of successful involvement in all aspects of industrial and commodity activity in general, and a deep understanding of the dry-bulk shipping trade in particular. The group has successfully adapted to the very changed market conditions in the shipping sector in recent years, which has been characterised by a much increased volume of business, rapidly changing patterns of cargo trade, and the widespread adoption and use of financial instruments, such as freight derivative contracts. The group prides itself on its scrupulous record of reliable performance and its keenly competitive pricing policy, which has enabled it to secure an increasing share of business over recent years, and an expanding base of loyal and satisfied customers and suppliers. The group has deliberately pursued a policy of working at lower margins in order to attract a greater volume of business.
The group intends to continue to develop its customer base, increase its volume of cargo contracts, expand its owned fleet and grow its base of chartered-in ships. The group believes it has found a formula for growth which it is confident it can adapt to new sectors of the dry bulk trade and new geographical areas.
