Appointment of Stefan Murphy as CEO of Nathan River Resources
The Group is delighted to confirm the appointment of Stefan Murphy as CEO of Nathan River Resources, the owner of the Group’s iron ore project in the Northern Territory, Australia.
Stefan Murphy has 20 years’ mining industry experience, initially in operations as a geologist and mine planning engineer before transitioning into corporate advisory as a mining specialist financial advisor and more recently as the Managing Director of an ASX listed company.
His technical background covers 10 years’ experience, initially working within BHP Billiton’s iron ore and bauxite mining divisions in the Pilbara and Southwest regions of Western Australia, before moving into gold mining operations with Gold Fields in Western Australia. In 2006 Mr. Murphy worked on the float of Corvette Resources (formally Mineral Sands Limited) which focused on gold and mineral sands exploration throughout Australia.
In 2009, he joined PwC advisory, within the corporate finance group primarily focused on foreign inbound investment into Australian mining and development projects. Mr Murphy joined RFC Ambrian in 2012, becoming an Executive Director in 2013. He provided both technical and financial advice on corporate transactions and financing for Australian, European and Canadian corporates and investors. From 2014 to 2016 Mr Murphy was based in London, managing RFC Ambrian’s corporate finance group. During this period, he worked with UK and European companies and investors to successfully fund global mining and exploration projects.
In 2016 Stefan joined Great Boulder Resources as Managing Director and completed the successful IPO in November, raising $6.1m. Stefan managed all regulatory and corporate activities as well as having oversight of technical operations. In 2017 Great Boulder discovered a copper-nickel-cobalt deposit at its Yamarna project and successfully raised $2.5m in new equity capital in 2018 to fund further exploration.
Stefan joins Nathan River Resources as CEO from 6 May 2019.
